Birthday goodies

Recently it was my birthday and my parents sent me a lovely present. A pukeko bag filled with little goodies from my childhood. They are currently emptying their house in preparation for a big move to the UK and thought I might like all these bits and pieces back.

They sent this:

Obviously homemade, but I don't remember it at all. Inside it was this:

Neither Mum nor I can remember what these were for. Mum thought they were for an alien costume I made for a ball, but I'm sure I already had those eyes. So we came to the conclusion that they were probably spares from that.

Then there was this bag - a gift from my aunt and uncle and obviously well used judging by the wear on the handle:

Inside it was all the following:

A bag of sparkly pompoms.

A wallet type thing made with factory offcut fabric (if I remember right).

The remainder of a kit for a set of paper drawers from our trip to Japan.

A piece of stitching that I have no recollection of. Mum said that she stitched it for someone and I wanted to do it too, so I started but never finished (that at least sounds familiar).

The instructions for the button box, and the remains of an unfinished companion kit.

Lastly a hand drawn pattern with the words at the top 'Undo it' so it obviously didn't work out (lol).

As well as all those items there was a Pukeko in a Ponga Tree Advent Calendar quilt pattern, which they thought would also do nicely as a countdown to various other things - such as them arriving over here :)

I am going to have to see if I can find some suitable fabric - I don't think I'll have a problem with the borders, as although they are a NZ tree fern fabric, it's so skinny that it's hard to tell what it is, so any greenery fabric should do it. It's the kete fabric for the little bags I'm going to have trouble with. I'll take it into Calico Dress Fabrics and see if they have anything.

I doubt I will get it finished or even started in time for a countdown to when they come over though.
